View productsThe clean lines of contemporary furniture very often rely on the discreet nature of its fittings. When it comes to finishing hollow tubular structures without altering their original design, the recessed end cap is the most appropriate technical solution. Designed to fit directly inside the profile, this protective glide becomes virtually invisible once in place. It sits flush with the end of the tube, neatly sealing the metal section whilst providing a secure and stable point of contact with the floor. It is the perfect combination of visual minimalism and mechanical efficiency.
The strength of this anchoring device lies in its system of flexible fins or slats distributed along its shaft. When inserted into the leg of your chair or table, these ribs compress and grip firmly onto the inner walls of the steel or aluminium. This constant tension prevents any risk of accidental dislodgement, even when the structure is frequently lifted. The base of the glider, usually moulded from a very dense polymer such as polyethylene, acts as a sliding surface. It isolates the bare metal from the floor, thereby preventing corrosion caused by moisture during cleaning, whilst protecting your tiles and linoleum from the sharp edges of the tube.
This component is widely used by furniture manufacturers in the production of school furniture, public sector equipment and office chairs. It is very easy to fit, usually requiring nothing more than a simple mallet to drive it in firmly. To ensure a perfect fit, however, it is crucial to pay close attention to the dimensions. The outer diameter of the tube, as well as its wall thickness (or inner diameter), will determine the choice of the appropriate model. Opting for a recessed insert means choosing functional reliability in its purest form.
